I can’t decide – in which category I should submit my work?

Answer

As many as possible!

A project may be submitted in multiple categories. It increases your chances of winning if a project entered in a Spatial Awards category is also entered in one or more of the Executional Awards and Societal Awards categories. It is possible to win multiple awards.

For more information on the different categories, please refer to the Submission Guide. If you are still unsure about the most relevant category for your work, you may contact us at awards@frameweb.com.

Can I submit a project in more than one category?

Answer

Yes, you can.

A project may be submitted in multiple typologies and categories, which increases your chances of winning! Once you have completed the submission form, the Review page allows you to duplicate all project images and information and submit it in another category.

You can pay for multiple submissions in a single transaction.

Can I submit a project that was already submitted in last year’s Frame Awards?

Answer

Yes, unless it was nominated in that category.

Projects that were nominated in the Frame Awards 2018 are not eligible for re-submission in the same Awards category. However, a project previously nominated in an Awards category may be submitted in a different category.

Winners of special Frame Awards editions, such as the Frame Awards Milan honouring Salone’s best stands, are the exception to this rule and can be freely re-submitted.

What is the eligibility period of projects?

Answer

Projects must have been completed within the relevant 18-month eligibility period.

An interior or spatial design project must have been completed and opened to its intended audience between 1 January 2017 and 1 July 2018 to be eligible for submission to the Frame Awards 2019.

What do I need to make a submission?

Answer

High resolution images, a description of your entry, and a credit card!

Download the Submission Guide above for a handy checklist of all the fields required by our submission form.

The jury will see all the images and texts as you submit them, so please ensure that descriptions are clearly and well written, and that photographs of your work are high quality and clean of branding, logos, and text.

What are the specifications for the images that I submit?

Answer

Images must be 300 dpi minimum.

Please upload between a minimum of 2 and maximum of 10 high resolution images. We recommend that the first image be one that best showcases your project and that is in landscape orientation. You must include captions, and photo credits if applicable. The maximum image size is 15 MB.

I'm having trouble uploading images in the submission form.

Answer

We recommend using Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, or Internet Explorer 11.

Please note that you may experience errors with the submission form if you do not use one of these recommended browsers.

Can I edit my submission?

Answer

Yes, if you haven't paid yet!

Payment confirms the submission of your entry. Submission entries may not be changed, edited, retracted, or reassigned to another award category once payment has been made. This includes adding or changing images.

Can I submit using renderings?

Answer

No, you must submit high resolution images of your completed work.

Can I withdraw my submission?

Answer

Yes, but you will not receive a refund.

As stated in the terms and conditions, you can withdraw your entry at any time before the final deadline. Submission fees will not be reimbursed if the submission is withdrawn.

If you wish to withdraw your submission, contact us at awards@frameweb.com

Do I need to submit floor plans?

Answer

It's up to you!

The Frame Awards does not require sketches or floor plans for submissions, but you may certainly provide them if they give the jury a better sense of your project.

What is the deadline?

Answer

30 September 2018, though late entries will be accepted until 15 October 2018.

As stated in the Submission Guide, early bird submissions are open from 1 - 30 June 2018. Regular submissions are open from 1 July - 30 September 2018. Late entries are accepted from 1 - 15 October 2018.

Can I submit my entry in any language?

Answer

No, not yet!

While the Frame Awards is an international award that recognizes work and designers from around the world, all entries must be submitted in English to be accepted.

How long does it take to complete the submission?

Answer

If you have all the materials, 15 minutes on average.

Please allow sufficient time to complete your submission entry before the final closing date of 15 October 2018. It should not take longer than a couple of hours to gather the information and image materials you need to upload to the form, however we would recommend that to ensure your entry is as strong as possible, the more time spent on preparation the better. You can save your entry and come back and update it at any time before the deadline, so you do not need to submit it until you are happy with it. Completing the submission form and making the payment should not take more than a few minutes.

Can I save my submission entries and pay later?

Answer

Yes, you can!

If you have completed all the required fields in the submission form, your entry is automatically saved when you proceed to the next step.

However, your submission fee is dependent upon the date of payment, and not the date you start your submission. So if you wish to enjoy the early bird discounts or avoid incurring the late submission fee, we advise you to complete your submissions and make your payment as soon as possible.

Pricing and payment

How much does it cost to submit an entry?

Answer

Between €249 - €349 per entry.

Judging, Nominating, and Voting

What is the process after I've finished my submission?

Answer

After the final deadline in October, the jury will select five nominees for each award.

The Frame Awards 2019 nominees will be announced on 3 December 2018. This begins the public voting, which will determine the People's Choice awards in each category. The public voting will be closed in February.

Frame Lab takes place in Amsterdam on 20 - 21 February 2019. At Frame Lab, the nominees will have the opportunity to defend their work to the jury in a live judging session that is open to the public. The live judging of the Frame Awards nominees takes place on 20 February 2019. Nominees will be given complimentary entry to Frame Lab in the form of one (1) free ticket. If nominees wish to have additional team members present at the live judging, those team members will have to purchase additional Frame Lab tickets.

The Frame Awards Show will be held in the evening of 20 February 2019. The Awards Show includes a grand dinner, the announcement of the winners, the prize-giving ceremony, and an afterparty. Nominees and guests must purchase their own Awards Show tickets, which are separate from Frame Lab tickets.

When will I know if my project has been nominated?

Answer

The nominees will be announced on 3 December 2018.

We will contact Frame Awards 2019 nominees via the email address used to make the submission.

What do I get if I am nominated?

Answer

Promotional materials and bragging rights!

Frame Awards 2019 nominees will receive digital promotional assets including an email signature banner, a nominee badge for your website, and social media materials. Spread the word and get your network to vote for you to win the People's Choice!

How does the public voting work?

Answer

Voting is done online via this website.

You must have an account to vote. If you already have an account, you can vote directly on the nominees page.

You can only vote for one nominee per category. However, you can vote in every category.

Can I vote for my own project?

Answer

Yes. We won’t tell...

Anyone with a verified account can vote for any of the nominees. Votes are anonymous.

Live Judging and Winning

How are the winners chosen?

Answer

They will be chosen by the jury during the live judging at Frame Lab in Amsterdam.

Frame Lab takes place in Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek on 20 and 21 February 2019. The live judging will be held in the morning and afternoon of 20 February.

What happens during the live judging?

Answer

Nominees will present their work and answer questions by the jury in an open setting.

Nominees will have approximately 10 minutes to convince the jury that they deserve to win. Supporting materials such as video of the interior project will help to make their case!

How many people can attend the live judging?

Answer

As many as you like!

Frame Awards nominees will receive one complimentary ticket (per nominated submission) to Frame Lab. This means that if you have been nominated for two awards, you will receive two complimentary tickets via the email address used to make the submissions.

If you wish to have additional team members present at the live judging, those team members will have to purchase additional Frame Lab tickets.

Is it compulsory to attend the live judging?

Answer

No, but it does give your work the best chance of winning.

If a nominee does not attend the live judging, the jury will discuss it in their absence. This is a lost opportunity to hear feedback from the panel of industry leaders and to make sure that the most noteworthy aspect of your work is brought to the attention of the jury.

Are you sure?

Remember that you can only vote once per award category.
