The designers use coherent lines to express this fast shifting movement.

About the Project

The design concept of the Changsha Jinyi Cinema derives from the ‘place shifting’ martial arts technique comprehended by the invincible heroes. In the movies, these masters with extremely high martial arts skills can travel from place to place quickly. Sometimes the audience could only take a glimpse of their shadows because of such a high speed of movement.

The designers use coherent lines to express this fast shifting movement. The lines in the lobby extends from the wall to the floor, which increase the depthness of the entire lobby space. The tube-shaped lightings hanging in various heights from the ceiling act as if the sceneries that are disappearing in front of the masters’ eyes when they travel quickly on the top of the buildings or trees. They could disappear in the blink of an eye like magic.

What’s unique about it

The design concept derives from the ‘place shifting’ martial arts technique comprehended by the invincible heroes - these masters with extremely high martial arts skills can travel from place to place quickly. Using coherent lines and lighting to emphasis this fast shifting movement. It seems that every shape of the wall is moving fast. It has illustrated how the designers can work their ‘magic’ and make the space more vivid.

The lines in the lobby extends from the wall to the floor, which increase the depthness of the entire lobby space. The lines of ceiling and floor in the hallway is the continuation of the direction of the vertical walkway. The wall in the whole space is perpendicular to the floor line - this acts as if someone is trying to stop a fast-moving object single-handedly. The lines of the floor interacts vividly with the wall, which make the whole space even more dynamic. They also use the strong contrast of white and green colours to create an enticing visual effect.
