About the Project

“This relocation is not only a physical relocation but also the start of a new chapter for Porsche in China and a significant milestone for Porsche AG.” Oliver Blume, chairman of the executive board of Porsche AG
For Porsche’s new work environment, it was essential that the themes of speed and passion speak boldly through the language of design. Long, horizontal lines with strong black and white contrast guide people through the space and support the allocation of the reception, waiting lounge and displays areas. The staircase, as a major vertical connector, links the large public areas and fosters communication among the employees. The space embraces the broad brand heritage of Porsche. A 1:1 scale model of the 919 hybrid racing car is displayed alongside a trophy wall, an engine block and a model car timeline. Large bonsai trees visualize the aspiration of luxury and give a hint of the importance of China to the brand today.
“Porsche is committed to empowering employees and providing a more digital and intelligent working environment to promote the development of corporate culture and to actively face the new era of change alongside our employees,” said Oliver Blume
The focus on the end-users WELL being was an essential goal while creating the new work environment for Porsche. We implemented facilities such as a gym, focus rooms and quiet spaces that go beyond traditional office space. This way, we also ensured that the environment met WELL Certification Gold Standards.

What’s unique about it

Porsche China is among the first large-scale corporations who completely switched their working style from a traditional dedicated desk system to an agile office, integrating the latest technology to aim for a smart, passionate, attractive, collaborative and engaging workspace. Various challenges such as the size and flow of the space, cultural considerations and the office’s location created various challenges for designers. All functional needs of an agile workspace are mainly addressed by the layout arrangement and the selection of flexible furniture.
There is a lot of effort needed to convince employees and especially the middle management to aim for flat hierarchies without implementing traditional status symbols – single offices, secretary offices and fixed meeting rooms - they are used to.
anySCALE has supported the client to manage the change of minds of its employees by its precise illustrations and 1:1 mock-ups of Porsche’s future workspaces.
This office is also one of the few WELL GOLD certified offices in China. The WELL standard is based on seven categories including air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind, placing health and wellness at the center of design and construction.
