Why they’ve been nominated

The studio of Copenhagen-based design and architecture agency Spacon & X houses 20 employees with many different backgrounds, from architects and interior designers to design engineers, building constructors and experience economists. Founded in 2014 by architect Nikoline Dyrup Carlsen and scenographic designer and advertising producer Svend Jacob Pedersen, and later joined by architect and now partner Malene Hvidt, the studio has a portfolio that includes everything from trade-fair stands and private houses to custom display systems and hospitality concepts. In creating retail environments for the likes of Ace & Tate, Mads Nørgaard and Wood Wood and event ‘sets’ for Ikea Lab, Spacon & X shows its ability to express and expand the visual identity of brands through space and materiality. Under the studio’s direction, Scandinavian design gets an update.
